What it is and why to use it

Video exposes a single video as an application item.

When to use it

Use it for instructions, drone footage, destination presentations or other on-demand video.

Visitor experience

The visitor opens the item, watches the video and returns to the kiosk menu.

What the administrator configures and sees

The administrator selects the video, names the application and publishes it.

Before using a video, you can edit it directly in Media: change target resolution, fitting mode and duration. A shorter duration ends playback earlier; a longer duration keeps the final frame visible after the video ends.

Prepare the media

After a video is uploaded, ScreenSoft automatically converts the media to the format and codecs required by the system so that it is ready for reliable playback on supported devices. The user does not need to start or configure the conversion. Processing usually takes only a few minutes, depending on the video length and file size.

You can follow processing in Media → video detail → Conversion status. It shows whether conversion is waiting, currently running, or already completed. The detail also shows duration, file size, resolution, aspect ratio, upload time and conversion completion time; depending on the processed media, outputs such as Video, Frame and Preview are also available.

As soon as the automatic conversion is complete, the video is ready and the application can start using it. Until then, an application using that video will not start on the device. No additional action is required from the user.

Create and configure

1. Create Video.
2. Choose/upload the video.
3. Set the name and available options.
4. Save and publish.

Publishing and operation

Application video is visitor-requested content; campaign video belongs to the automatic presentation playlist.

Scheduled publication

This application can be prepared in advance with a publication period defining when it should become available on the screen and when its publication should end. Outside the configured period it is not shown on the target device.

The application can therefore be created and configured ahead of time, with visitor availability starting and ending automatically according to the configured schedule, similarly to campaigns.
