Creating and publishing an application

Introduction and orientation

This guide covers the shared steps from choosing an application to making it available on screen. Each application’s guide in the library explains its specific content and settings.

How to create an application

Decide whether visitors will only view content, use a touchscreen or interact from their own phone. Controls depend on the application. You can prepare and schedule publication; creating an application does not immediately display it on a device.

Already created the application? Open its settings and continue with scheduling availability.

  1. Open My applications.
  2. Click + in the lower-right corner.
  3. Select the application you need.

Browse the available applications in the app library, then open the guide for your chosen application for its specific setup steps.

  4. Choose an application icon.

Use the built-in icon gallery or upload your own image. The same choice is available in other settings that use this gallery.

For your own icon, we recommend a PNG with a transparent background to avoid an unwanted coloured rectangle around it. An uploaded image keeps its own colours; changing the tile background in branding does not recolour it. See the supported media formats for details.

  5. Schedule application availability if needed.

Enable scheduled availability and select the start and end dates. These settings use calendar dates, rather than a specific hour or minute. The end date is included. This differs from campaign time targeting.

If you do not need a date restriction, leave scheduled availability disabled.
  6. Select the target device and save the application.

If the wizard requires a device selection, choose where the application will be available. Check the summary and settings before saving.

  7. Verify application availability on the target device.

To verify delivery and display, see Check published applications.

A disconnected device cannot receive a new setting; saving it in the portal does not confirm that it has appeared on screen.
