Media usage and deletion
Introduction and orientation
Find out where a file is used and what to change before deleting it.
Steps and settings
Deleting media safely
- Open the media detail and check where the file is used.
- If it is still in use, replace it or remove its references from the relevant content first.
- If you have permission to delete media and the file is no longer used, select delete and confirm the dialog.
- Check the result in the library and the storage overview.
Why deletion may not free space immediately
Deleting a media item in the library marks its access record as inactive. Files in the trash still count towards total usage. Confirming deletion therefore does not mean that data has been physically erased or that free capacity has increased immediately.
Why a media item cannot be deleted
If a media item is used by a campaign, application or another part of the system, first check its usage in the media detail. Remove or change that dependency before deleting the file.
