Wheel of Fortune
Create and publish your own interactive competition. Players activate the wheel by QR code or touch, while ScreenSoft manages allocated prizes and unique winning codes automatically.
What Wheel of Fortune is
Wheel of Fortune is an interactive competition application that you create, configure and publish to selected screens directly in ScreenSoft. You can create any number of separate wheels for different venues, clients, campaigns or one-off events. Each instance can have its own branding, segments, prizes, available prize quantities and activation method.
The entire interaction can run without touching the public display. A QR code appears on the screen. The player scans it with a mobile phone and a ScreenSoft page opens in the mobile browser with a Play symbol. At the same time, the wheel on the main display becomes active and waits for that player.
When the player taps Play on the phone, the command is transferred to the display practically instantly and the wheel starts spinning. The phone therefore acts as the player's controller while the Wheel of Fortune remains on the main screen.
What happens after the wheel is spun
The wheel determines the result from the configured items and available prizes. When the player wins, the result also appears in the mobile browser as a voucher with a unique code. The code is generated by the system for that specific prize and is used to verify it uniquely, preventing a simple replacement with a fabricated code.
At the same time, ScreenSoft records the win in administration. The administrator can see the specific allocated prize and its unique code, and the system automatically deducts that prize from the configured total quantity. This provides a clear view of how many prizes have already been allocated and how many remain.
Typical competition flow
- The published Wheel of Fortune application runs on the display and shows a QR code.
- The player scans the QR code with a mobile phone.
- A ScreenSoft page opens in the mobile browser with a Play symbol.
- The main display simultaneously becomes active and waits for the player.
- The player taps Play on the phone and the wheel starts spinning on the main display practically instantly.
- When the wheel stops, the result is evaluated.
- If the player wins, a voucher with a unique winning code appears on the phone.
- The same prize and code are recorded in ScreenSoft administration and one unit is deducted from the available prize quantity.
Create a Wheel of Fortune

- Information — set the identity and basic information for this application instance.
- Theme — adapt the competition to the brand. Configure the logo, logo size and area, colours, background image, wheel size and position.

- Activation — choose the interaction method. For the mobile flow, configure the QR code including its size, area and horizontal/vertical position.
- Summary — review the final appearance and configuration before saving the application.
Prize management
Each Wheel of Fortune is a separate instance with its own configuration and prize pool. Administration shows the items, configured quantities and already allocated prizes. An allocated prize also includes the unique code corresponding to the voucher received by the player.
For example, if a specific number of units of a prize is configured, ScreenSoft automatically reduces the remaining quantity every time that prize is allocated. The administrator does not need to track issued prizes manually.
When to use Wheel of Fortune
Wheel of Fortune is suitable for promotions in retail, shopping centres, hotels, events, exhibitions and other locations with digital displays. Separate competitions can be prepared for individual brands or events and customised with their own logo, background, colours, segments and prize mix.
Scheduled publication
This application can be prepared in advance with a publication period defining when it should become available on the screen and when its publication should end. Outside the configured period it is not shown on the target device.
The application can therefore be created and configured ahead of time, with visitor availability starting and ending automatically according to the configured schedule, similarly to campaigns.
