USB Media Player

Introduction and orientation

Browse and play images and videos directly from connected USB storage.

USB Media Player reads files from storage connected to the player. Use it when you deliver media physically instead of distributing it through the cloud.

Steps and settings

Prepare and open the application

  1. Open My applications, click + and select USB Media Player.

    First configure the application in the administration portal and deliver it to the device; USB media does not replace player installation or registration.

  2. Set Media type. Enable images and videos separately. Both are enabled by default.
  3. Set Media sort order. Sort by filename or file modification date, ascending or descending. The default is filename ascending, not the EXIF capture date.
  4. Set Media display. Stretch to fill, fit while preserving aspect ratio, or crop. The default preserves the aspect ratio.
  5. Set Auto-play next video. Enabled by default. Playback advances after an item finishes; images are shown for 10 seconds in this playback sequence.
  6. Set Show media name. Can be displayed with the controls. Hidden by default.
  7. Save the app, configure its publication on the target device and verify delivery.

  8. Copy your files to USB storage and connect it before opening the application. Subfolders are scanned; hidden files are excluded.

    The USB path recognises JPEG/JPG, PNG and WebP images, and MP4, WebM, AVI, MPEG and WMV video types, using the file type detected by the operating system. Playback also depends on the codec and device capabilities. USB files do not pass through cloud conversion, so the Media upload format list does not guarantee direct USB playback.

  9. Open the application and check thumbnails, video playback and sound. Keep the drive connected while its content is in use.
  10. Close the application before changing the USB drive. Reopen it after connecting different content to reload the list.

Using the application on screen

Opening the application shows media thumbnails and the selected item. Tap a thumbnail to select it. Start a video with the play control; during playback, reveal the controls to pause it. You can also move between items and use full-screen view. Selecting a thumbnail does not itself start a video.

Related topics and next steps

On the target screen, check that the app opens, shows the content and returns to the menu. Saving alone does not confirm delivery to the device.
