RSS Application
Introduction and orientation
The RSS application automatically retrieves content from a public or customer RSS/XML feed and displays it to visitors in a prepared system template. New items are synchronized regularly, so the administrator does not need to copy them into the application manually.
Examples of use
An RSS application can display news, public notices, job vacancies, event listings and community updates. These are different uses of the same template, rather than separate application types.
The same template can also display sports news, police notices or obituary notices, provided a suitable RSS/XML feed is available.
Steps and settings
How to get your RSS application running
- Arrange an RSS/XML feed that meets the specification and send its URL to your system provider. Give the technical guide to the feed developer or supplier.
The feed supplier or developer prepares the feed in accordance with the RSS specification and maintains its availability, content and change information. A customer who develops their own feed also takes on this role.
- Agree on the application’s appearance and intended use with your provider.
A publicly accessible feed does not in itself establish permission to reuse its content.
The system provider connects the feed and creates the corresponding RSS application for the customer. The technical procedure is described in RSS application configuration.
- Publish the prepared application to the selected devices if your permissions allow it, or arrange publication with your provider.
RSS is designed for content that changes continuously at its source.

- Together, check that items load and that a subsequent change to the feed reaches the application.
