ScreenSoft Docs / Application Group

Application Group

A folder that groups multiple applications behind one icon in the kiosk menu.

What it is and why to use it

Application Group works like an app folder on a phone. It occupies one item in the main menu and opens a list of applications inside it.

When to use it

A city can create an Education group containing web applications for individual schools.

Visitor experience

The visitor opens the group, chooses an application, and uses the back arrow to move back through the hierarchy.

What the administrator configures and sees

The administrator names the group and chooses which applications it contains.

Create and configure

  1. Create an Application Group.
  2. Set its name and identity.
  3. Add the applications that belong to it.
  4. Save and publish it.

Publishing and operation

Groups keep larger kiosk menus organized by topic.

Scheduled publication

This application can be prepared in advance with a publication period defining when it should become available on the screen and when its publication should end. Outside the configured period it is not shown on the target device.

The application can therefore be created and configured ahead of time, with visitor availability starting and ending automatically according to the configured schedule, similarly to campaigns.
